SPACE CLUB
🚀 DISCOVER OUR SPACE CLUB
Space Camp doesn't end in summer. It now continues all year round.
Many of you had told us after the summer camp: “what now?”.
Well, here's the answer 😊
is born Space Club, a new proposal to give continuity to the Space Camp experience throughout the year, to create stable groups, To continue learning, investigating and enjoying space... without having to wait for next summer. For those who have already gone through Space Camp and for those who are curious about space and want to be part of our community.
We do so in collaboration with one of our main promoters: American Space Valencia, The exhibition is located in a unique environment within the Universitat Politècnica de València where science, technology and space come together.
What is the Space Club?
A space activity club for boys and girls who want to continue exploring, go to and be part of a community with an interest in the aerospace sector.
🛰️ ACTIVITIES
Our activities have the following characteristics:
- Duration: 2 hours
- Capacity: 15 participants
- Age: From 10 to 17 years old
- Location: American Space Valencia (UPV) and other spaces of the UPV according to activity
🛠️ 1. Exploration of the surface of Mars with ROVERS
📅 March 6 - 🕕 6:00 pm
What are we going to do?
We are now in the middle of a martian exploration mission.
Participants will work with Rovers built with LEGO, learning how they work and programming them to face different challenges: traversing the terrain, dodging obstacles, locating points of interest and simulating the collection of “samples”.
What do they take?
- How a real Rover works: mobility, sensors, autonomy and communications.
- First steps in applied programming to space missions.
- Teamwork, decision making and real-world problem solving.
🧑🚀 2. Virtual Reality Astronaut experience
📅 April 17 - 🕕 6:00 pm
What are we going to do?
We enter the International Space Station (ISS) thanks to the experiences of Virtual Reality and we put ourselves in the shoes of an astronaut.
In addition, teams must simulating the docking of a Soyuz spacecraft to the ISS and perform communication tests with the “Houston base”. Precision, coordination and nerves under control.
What to take
- What the ISS is like inside and what it's like up there.
- What is involved in a orbital coupling and why there is no margin for error.
- Clear communication and teamwork in highly demanding environments.
Guided visits to leading UPV centers.
📅 May 22 - 🕕 6:00 pm
Visit to the Immersive and Holographic Technologies Laboratory
(5G Lab - iTEAM UPV)
A visit to a laboratory where they work with virtual reality, augmented reality, holography and 5G communications.. We will see how these technologies are used in remote control of robots, astronaut training or scientific missions.
Objectives
- To publicize a cutting-edge research environment of the UPV.
- Show real applications of the VR, AR and mobile communications in space science and technology.
- Connecting experience with potential STEM careers at the UPV (telecommunications, computer science, design, etc.).
