Welcome to the Space Camp Valencia scholarship program, an initiative designed to open the doors of the aerospace world to all future astronauts.

Our goal is to break down the economic barriers that prevent many talented young people from underprivileged or families with economic difficulties from accessing an elite educational program. These scholarships represent more than financial aid; they are an investment in the future, preparing tomorrow's leaders and pioneers.

Thanks to the support of the patrons, we can offer a program that promotes inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunity for the next generation of scientific and technological minds.

What does a Space Camp scholarship cover?

A scholarship covers the registration for a complete week of Space Camp Valencia.

Who can request the scholarship of Space Camp?

The scholarship is intended for young people between 10 and 17 years old residing in Spain whose families meet the eligibility, economic and/or family situation requirements indicated in the rules.

In addition, applicants have to send a maximum 3-minute self-presentation video indicating their motivation and interest in Space Camp Valencia, following the script indicated in the rules.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM RULES
SPACE CAMP VALENCIA

1. Program Objectives The objective of the scholarship program is to provide financial support for participation in Space Camp Valencia, aimed at young people from families with economic difficulties or in underprivileged situations, promoting interest and learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

We want to inspire and motivate these young people through participation and activities otherwise out of their reach, thus contributing to their educational and personal development.

2. Eligibility and Beneficiary Requirements

  • Residence: Must be a tax resident in Spain.
  • Age: Children between 10 and 17 years old.
  • Economic Situation:Belong to a family whose gross annual income does not exceed a specific threshold adjusted to the number of household members.
    • Family of 1 member: 23,874 €
    • Family of 2 members: 38,888 €
    • Family of 3 members: 51,068 €
    • Family of 4 members or more: 60,574€
  • Family Situation: Families with extraordinary situations like large families, single parents, or disabled family members will have preference.
  • Presentation Video:The participant who wants to receive the scholarship will have to send a self-presentation video explaining their interest and motivation in participating in Space Camp Valencia with the rest of the documentation. The video must have a maximum duration of 3 minutes and must answer the following questions:
    • What is my name? How old am I? Where am I from and where do I live?
    • What is my family situation? Style and formation of the family. Number of siblings. Family situation.
    • Why do you want to attend Space Camp Valencia?
    • In which company or companies of the patrons of the scholarship program would you like to work with in the future and why?

3. Budget Allocation and Scholarship Amount

The scholarship program will be awarded with a defined budget according to the available funds, contributed by the patrons of the program which are both public entities and private companies, intended to fully or partially cover the cost of participation in the camp.

4. Determination of Family Income

Method of calculating family income, including income and possible deductions to establish financial eligibility.

The annual family income will be calculated by adding all sources of gross income of the computable family members during the fiscal year prior to the scholarship application.

  • Computable Members:
    • The parents or guardians of the student
    • The student himself and his/her siblings under 26 years old, or older if they have a recognized degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%
    • Other dependents who live in the home and appear on the income tax return
  • Income Thresholds:

For the Space Camp Valencia scholarship program, a series of family income thresholds are established

These thresholds are:

  • Family of 1 member: 23,874 €
  • Family of 2 members: 38,888 €
  • Family of 3 members: 51,068 €
  • Family of 4 members of more: 60,574 €

These thresholds ensure that scholarships are distributed to the families who truly need support, facilitating access to the camp for young people with a passion for space.

  • Verification Process:
    • The Verification of the family income will be realized through telematic consultations with the Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria (AEAT), always with the prior authorization of the interested parties.
    • If there are any discrepancies or lack of information, additional documentation may be required from the applicants.
  • Special Cases:
    • For families that do not submit a declaration of IRPF because they are not obligated to do so, the income data from AEAT will be used or income certificates will be requested.
    • Particular situations such as shared custody of children will be considered to determine which parent's income will be considered and the composition of the family unity.

5. Required Documentation

  • Completed Application form.
  • Documentation that proves income and family situation.
  • Family Book (Libro de famila).
  • DNI of the applicant (legal guardians).
  • Copy of the declaration of Personal Income Tax (IRPF) of the prior year for all the computable members of the familiar unit who are required to present it.
  • If you are not required to submit declaration certificates of income, withholdings, pensions, benefits, or any other document that proves the income received will be required.
  • Copy of the employment status of the legal guardians and receipt of benefits or subsidies from the State Public Employment Service.
  • Attach the status of large family, single-parent family, and the status of a person with disabilities, issued by the Valencian Community; and, the status of beneficiary of the Valencian inclusion income.
  • Video of the candidate explaining his/her interest and motivation in participating in Space Camp Valencia. The video must have a maximum duration of 3 minutes. The participant must introduce himself/herself and explain in his/her own words why he/she wants to participate in Space Camp Valencia.

6. Selection Process and Criteria

  • Evaluation based on economic necessity, family circumstances, and motivation of the applicant.
  • A scoring system will be used to objectivize the selection.

7. Obligations of the Beneficiaries

  • Commitment to active participation in all camp activities.
  • Prepare a brief report or presentation about your experience at the camp.

8. Application Deadline

Open application period for scholarships until the financial allocation for them is finalized.

9. Award Procedure

The award procedure begins with the evaluation of applications based on eligibility and financial need criteria. A total score is then calculated for each applicant. Candidates are ordered according to their score, and scholarships are assigned starting with those with the highest scores until funds are exhausted. The results are then preferably communicated via email, indicating whether the application has been accepted or rejected and, if so, the amount of the scholarship awarded.

10. Data Protection

By sending the documentation and the application form, participants authorize Science Fantasy S.L. to handle their data for purposes related to the scholarship, guaranteeing treatment under data protection regulations. The protection of personal data is a priority for us. Science Fantasy S.L., CIF B98546435, is responsible for the processing of their data, committing to its protection and appropriate use. We will only collect information necessary for the scholarship selection and management process, guaranteeing its confidentiality and security under current regulations. Participants have the right to access, rectify, or delete their data, as well as other rights detailed in our privacy policy, available for consultation.
